The
second biography presented here was written
by Dr. John Cuthbert, Curator of the West Virginia
and Regional History Collection at West Virginia University. It was published in the library’s
newsletter introducing George Bird Evans to the library’s patrons prior
to the June
20, 2008 celebration on foundation of the WVU Sportsmen’s
Collection in the archives. It is reprinted on the web site by permission
of the author.

 Author Catherine A. Harper
wrote a biography entitled, George Bird Evans: Life of a Shooting
Gentleman. The book was
published by Prairie Wind Press, Wintersect,
Iowa in 1999. George and Kay totally supported her
work by recording answers to her questions, by participating in hours of
phone interviews and by hosting personal visits by Cathy. Sadly, George did not get to see the
final product but had read many of the advance chapters. The book is available through many
on-line dealers. Its ISBN number
is 0-967-4646-0-9.
