Events

Old Hemlock Foundation is dedicated to promoting the writings and philosophy of George and Kay Evans. Tours and visits are available to individuals and small groups on a prior arranged schedule.

The following tours are available: (*-Currently available. Other programs are under development.)

a. *Life and Times of George Bird Evans and Kay Evans: A general tour giving a basic overview of the Old Hemlock story.

b. George Bird Evans: The Artist - A walk through time of how a young artist matures into a graphic artist of a major company. The tour will show examples for George Bird Evans’s art from elementary school through college to commercial and military art.

c. George Bird Evans and Kay Evans: The Authors –Explore the writing processes used to develop their mysteries and sporting literature.

d. Living with Gun Dogs: Discussion on George Bird Evans’s Old Hemlock Setters. How he developed the type from Ryman Setters and his philosophy of training.

f. *Ecological Succession at Old Hemlock: Nature walks of the 243 acres of Old Hemlock. See the succession from 1939 farm land to present and experience a virgin hemlock forest.

g. *Flora and Fauna of Old Hemlock: Nature walks to identify natural occurring flora and fauna of the Appalachian Mountains.
